| Description: |
| Fund focused on approx 50-55 names generally focused on the $2 to $30 billion market cap area. This would be considered a "mid" to "large" cap growth fund by traditional convention. The top 10 holdings will make up a heavy concentration of portfolio (usually in excess of 33%). Cash position will be 0-25% range. ETFs that bet against the market will be used as hedges in varying degrees, generally from 0-20%.
The basis of stock selection is finding sectors that are exhibiting long term growth trends and then selecting the best stocks within those sectors. About 90% of the fund will be devoted to those type of stocks - current sectors will include global infrastructure, global agriculture boom, video internet revolution, energy exploration, foreign markets with long term demographic/industrialization trends, etc. The other 10% of the fund will be into shorter term trades in more cyclical businesses such as refining, steel, or 'special situations' as they occur. Most positions are held in some shape or form for the long term, but the positions will be reduced or expanded in size due to market conditions/stock price/sector. This leads to relatively high turnover, as winning positions are culled to lock in profit, and other positions are added to, after pullbacks. Over time while I remain bullish on all sectors I hold in the fund, I weigh certain sectors more heavily than others as economic/fundamental conditions change.
Fundamental analysis is used (along with macro trends) to identify stocks/sectors for investment. Very basic technical analysis is used to determine entry (and sometimes) exit points.
