MDS operates a farm system for investors in much the same way that major league baseball teams have farm systems for baseball players.
No major league baseball team would ever think of risking their reputation and fans by putting players on the field who were selected purely on the basis of resumes and interviews. Baseball teams require that players prove themselves first, before they take the field.
Just like professional baseball, a farm system is a better way to identify skilled investors than reading resumes and conducting interviews.
Similarly, we think investment professionals should have to prove themselves before they are allowed to manage other people’s money. They prove themselves in a farm system where their mistakes are learning experiences, rather than major financial setbacks.
Each MDS model portfolio starts out with $1 million of virtual money, a far better choice than providing real capital for rookies to use in their investment training.
MDS’s farm system provides everyone an opportunity to establish an investment track record by managing a model portfolio on our website. Each model portfolio starts out with $1 million of virtual money, a far better choice than providing real capital for rookies to use in their investment training. Become a member today.
MDS members manage their model portfolios by entering trade orders in real time. These orders are considered filled only if there is 10 times the volume available in the real market after the order is entered, and each fill is assessed a virtual commission of 5 cents per share.
Dividends, stock splits, other corporate actions and a management fee of 1.95% per year are accounted for daily.
Although our farm system uses model portfolios, the investment decisions that they reflect are real decisions made in real time and accounted for using the same rules that govern mutual funds.
We believe a farm system is a better way to identify skilled investors than reading resumes and conducting interviews.
